Karlyn's 2006 Boston Marathon Children's Hospital Pledgepage
DONE - Completed!
I sucked wind during the race, but finised nonetheless and raised over $2000.00 for an awesome cause that touches my heart everytime I think about my experience at Boston. It was truly an amazing event that I will do again next year, but maybe I will just voluenteer, running that course is HARD I tell ya. I havent updated the stats page. 110TH BOSTON MARATHON Monday, April 17, 2006 DISTANCE - 26 miles, 385 yards (42.195 Kilometers) Over 20,000 runners GOAL: Raise Money (nuf-said)! Finish 26.2 miles of grueling foot pounding running, up hill, down hill (those are the quad killers) thousands & thousands of people cheering and losing 10 lbs in a bit over 3 hours. Sound like fun? If you weren't a believer of what doesn't break you makes you stronger, you will, if you finish this race. This is the pinnicle of Marathon racing next to the Olympics, World Series or Super Bowl. As one runner put it "qualifying for and running in Boston is like being at the World Series and getting to play." I am in awe of Steve Prefontaine, he had remarkable talent and always gave 110%. He was undeniably the best 10,000 meter runner of our time. If I could be half the runner he was, I'd quit my job and just run. I am so excited and proud to run Boston, it has been a goal of mine and now it is coming true. YEAH! |
